MoHa! - One-Way Ticket to Candyland

Fans of lightning bolt download this loud ass album.

Leander - Pass Fail

Some typical indie noise folk freak electronica blah blah but it's good.

Kuupuu - Illusia

Ha, this one too.

Kuupuu - Kuupuu

Whoops forgot this one too.

Carlos Giffoni - Adult Life

Couldn't find accurate album art for this one, either; so, here's a picture of Carl with a bunch of shit on a table.

Look at him puke all over the place.

Kuupuu - I Can Walk The Dark

Couldn't find accurate album art for this one.

But here.

Kuupuu - Kulta Sulka

HEMP NECKLACE.

Kría Brekkan - Apotropaíosong Armor

This album might not be released with album art yet so idk.

But here it is.

Growing - His Return

Forgot 'bout this one.

The Lickets - Journey In Caldecott

Folk, post-rock, some noise.

Growing - All The Way

Muh.

Growing - The Soul Of The Rainbow And The Harmony Of Light

Y'ok.

Growing - The Sky's Run Into The Sea

Look at dem boats.

Björk - Drawing Restraint 9

This is the soundtrack to Björk's husband's (Matthew Barney) film which is itself a chapter of his Cremaster Cycle series of films and pieces of art.

Here.

16 December 2008

Once again, I apologize for the lack of recent posts. After the conclusion of the heavy workload of finals week, I've taken a much needed do-absolutely-nothing vacation during which all I've been doing is watching shitty television and playing video games.

This weekend, however, I'll update with a plethora of posts.

Everyone: please, enjoy being young with no responsibility.

Nels Cline and Devin Sarno - The Wulf

Nels Cline + Devin Sarno - the wulf from ZF-Films on Vimeo

I don't usually post things that you can't download, but once I found this, I just had to show it off. Nels Cline is one of the most talented musicians alive today and everyone should know about him -- plain and simple.

Cut Chemist - The Audience's Listening

Download this album if you are a human being.
If I commented on your rant about how much rating albums sucks, please comment on this post.

I forgot your blog, and I don't know to find out on which blogs I've commented.

Sorry.

Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO - In C

Experimental post-rock, more so noise that has structure.

Yeap.

Eric Copeland - Alien In A Garbage Dump

Beer bottle in the pocket, dude rules.

Rock dat.

Truckasauras

Sweet 8-bit beats that border the definition between 8-bit and regular music.

Part 1
Part 2

Iannis Xenakis - Electronic Music

More good old bro music. Check this dude:

Check him more.

Terry Riley - Reed Streams

Speaking of Terry Riley, here you go.

Here.

Jim O'Rourke - Happy Days

I'm surprised O'Rourke hasn't been awarded the MacArthur Fellowship yet. His work ranges from glowing ambient to collective acoustic solo guitar. "Happy Days" pulls your soul out and forces it to do hard drugs.

Yuh.

Bang on a Can - Terry Riley In C

If you aren't familiar with the work of Terry Riley, familiarize yourself. Bang on a Can's rendition is wonderful -- moving slowly and rising with elegance when called.

Small.

DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist - The Hard Sell

A very awesome electronic, jazzy, oldies, etc., etc., DJ collaboration album. The opening of the album reminds me of something they'd produce after listening to Black Dice for a few days, but it wonderfully flows into traditional newer experimental DJ music much like Prefuse 73.

Part One
Part Two

The Nels Cline Singers - Instrumentals

One of my absolute favorite albums. Blues-y, jazzy, and in the latter half of the album, extremely experimental.

Nels Cline on super guitar and super noise, Scott Amendola on super drums and more super noise, and Devin Hoff on super stand up bass.

Uuuuuugggh.
I apologize for the lack of recent posts. I've been busy with procrastinated school work and the slow movement of my music collection from my 'base' laptop to my new netbook computer, which surprisingly has a larger harddrive.

As soon as I finish all of the work I have to do as well as successfully transfer most or all of my music to my new, much more used netbook, I'll post more regularly and on schedule.

20 November 2008

Funeral Dance Party - Quirtyiop

C60 Cassette live recording from 1980. Electronic and jazz, kind of.

Shlap.

Keijo - Keijo and Jungle Joy

Keijo (2003)

Jungle Joy (2004)

last.fm:

Based in Jyväskilä, Finland, Keijo Virtanen is somewhat of a legend in the whole finnish psych scene (on the same level as Pekka Airaksinen - in fact the two have collaborated before). He’s been working on music for ages but his work has only been starting to get attention during the last few years. This artist’s music is unlike any other, it is often based in ambient and drone and incorporates weird traditional folk instruments from around the world just as much as electronic instruments… and then you’ve got the voice. Keijo is renowned for his throat singing skills which truly sound alien-like and fits his drones very well, giving them an even weirder feel. And when he’s not throat singing and actually forming words, his strong, nasal voice makes any of his songs bizarre beyond description. His roots and influences are quite obvious (traditional world music, american appalachian folk, jazz and drone), but what he does with them makes his work extremely unique. He is sometimes joined by members of free-jazz outfit Vapaa (going under the name Keijo & The Free Players) on some recordings.
Also he collaborated with Tiitus Petäjäniemi of Vapaa, Robert Horton, Avarus and kheta hotem.

Bullion - Pet Sounds: In The Key Of Dee

Really good mash up of Pet Sounds.

Terracid - 2023 and Out Dual Head Vibration

2023

Out Dual Head Vibration

last.fm:
The music is psych-infused drones that dance next to tribal-based drumming.

Sonic Youth med Mats Gustafsson og Merzbow - Andre Sider Af Sonic Youth

Super noise people noising the world.

Enon - Believo!

Enon's first album.

Dianogah - Qhnnnl and Millions of Brazilians

Qhnnnl (2008)

Millions of Brazilians (2002)

Chicago post-rock, so says last.fm and others.

10 November 2008

Flica - Windvane & Window

Via Flica's myspace:

"flica is an electro-acoustic outfit produced by euseng seto from the evolving music scene of Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Born in 1982, he begun his exquisite journey in conceptualizing and producing delicate home-brew music since 2005 with his first electronica duo project muxu with member huat liang.

Having realized the need to explore further and experiment with his own music style, euseng seto started flica in early 2007, solely crafting and producing music on his own. As a result, the subtle sounds that flica creates are exceptionally melodic and uncomplicated, which perfectly mirroring his perceptions towards daily personal feelings on life and nature."

Dem Malaysians.

The Ladies - They Mean Us

Excellent collaboration between Rob Crow of Pinback and Zach Hill of Hella. I find it hard to describe the category under which this album falls. If one attempts to imagine a band consisting of Rob Crow's poppy voice and his unique guitar style with the unique drumming style of Zach Hill, this album is probably very close to the result.

They're not ladies.

Derek Bailey - Solo Guitar Volume 1

Twings and twangs of a guitar by the hands of an awesome old dude.

He probably sipped* tea.

Figurine - The Heartfelt

Electronic pop between a brother and sister.

Quite.

04 November 2008

Wolf Eyes & Double Leopards - 1 and 2

Abrasive noise gurus Wolf Eyes and Double Leopards joining forces for these Heavy Tapes recordings.

These are the album names, and the songs are untitled, but since these are c20 recordings, I suggest naming the two tracks "Side A" and "Side B" respectively.

"1"

"2"

Kukkuva Poliisi - Untitled

Freak folk noise with a lot of wind instruments and weird percussion things.

All girls.

sBACH - sBACH

sBACH contains guitarist from Hella on drums, and others. They utilize a very familiar Hella sound but include 8-bit music much more frequently than on Church Gone Wild, Chirpin' Hard.

Re-upped.

27 October 2008

Múm - Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK

One of the best experimental electronic albums, if not one of the best albums ever recorded.

Easily.

26 October 2008

Psychic Ills - Dins and Early Violence

Psychic Ills - Dins

Dins is a heavy rock album with droney noise here and there.

Psychic Ills - Early Violence

Early Violence is a romp through slow metal riffs accompanied by groggy old drum machines.

20 October 2008

Squarepusher - Just a Souvenir

Very fun electronic album which, upon listening to the first few minutes, reminded me of the Rainbow Road music from Mario Kart on SNES...

...in a very, very good way.

Pt. 1
Pt. 2

18 October 2008

Electric President - Sleep Well

A somewhat original approach to electronic indie pop music, however, this album contains some departures from my slight prejudiced labeling.

I find it difficult and a little painful to try and accurately describe music without doing the music in question proper justice. I'd rather you simply take my word for it when I say that this is an above average album, download it, listen to it, and hopefully purchase it.

Please do.

Cyann & Ben - Spring

A gathering together of a dash of post-rock and some soft indie pop, kind of, yields an album like "Spring."

An album with vocals that actually compliment the music.

Common Eider, King Eider - Figs, Wasps, and Monotremes

Ex-Deerhoof human being Rob Fisk streaks the canvas with jagged noise behind a carefully woven silk drapery of stringed instruments.

Vanilla color.

13 October 2008

Tobacco - Fucked Up Friends

Honestly, this is one of the best albums I've listened to recently. Every single song is very awesome.

Tobacco is the solo project of Tobacco from Black Moth Super Rainbow. Although I haven't listened to Black Moth Super Rainbow at all recently, this hip-hop oriented album is mind-blowing. "Fucked Up Friends" is, esentially, a hip-hop version of Black Moth Super Rainbow, and it is wonderful.

It is very simple, but still quite, quite beautiful.

So - So

So is a collaboration between Markus Popp and Eriko Toyoda. This album is poppy noisy electronic music.

Peaceful electronic waves.

09 October 2008

Haino Keiji & Yoshida Tatsuya - Uhrfasudhasdd

Another fabulous noise album with interesting structure.

And awesome song titles.

DISCLAIMER: The files misspell "Tatsuya." If you download this album, keep that in mind and make sure you correct that mistake.

07 October 2008

にせんねんもんだい - Neji/Tori

Said in English, "Nisennemondai," this noise rock album has interesting structure.

Chaos theory noise rock.

Ikue Mori - Myrninerest

Electronics tangled with traditional instrument--instruments whose purpose was lost and fail to harness one particular moment, thus rendering themselves lost in time, traveling both forward and backward.

Trust me, its good.
